CEU Requirements for ASID Designers
ASID members must earn a minimum of 1.0 unit (10 hours) of approved continuing education (CEU) every two years. The current reporting period is from January 1, 2023 – December 31, 2023
CEU REQUIREMENTS:
Continuing Education Units (CEUs) are required for all members in the Allied, Professional and Associate categories.
CEU Policy
ASID bylaws and policies require all practitioner members (professional and allied members) to earn CEU’s. This is a required condition of membership. Paying your dues indicates that you agree to remain in compliance. If you need help finding CEUs in your area please check the chapter website www.cacnv.asid.org/events to find upcoming events in your area. You can also take online courses for credit at anytime at ASID UNi. To qualify, coursework must be taken from an approved provider such as:
• IDCEC
• State Regulatory Board
• CIDA-accredited college/university
Reporting Compliance
ASID wants to make reporting as easy as possible for members. When you pay your dues and sign the membership form you are agreeing to remain in compliance with the CEU requirement because it is a required condition of membership. You do not have to submit any information about the courses you have attended to ASID directly unless you are audited. You should be reporting your CEUs to your record on the free IDCEC system. Although this is not mandatory it is hightly recommended. ASID will receive a report at the end of the reporting period of all members and CEUs obtained. If the report indicates you have not reported your CEUs you must request a 30 day expension and show proof of compliance by the end of the 30 days. Please go to www.idcec.org, login and follow the directions for Registering Your CEUs.
Receiving credit for non-IDCEC programs
Programs completed that are not IDCEC approved must be submitted to ASID for review prior to receiving credit. Once a program has been completed simply fill out the ASID CEU Self Reporting Form and fax to Sarita Williams at (202) 546-3240 or email to Education@asid.org along with payment information. If the program qualifies you will be notified with a letter by email. This letter should be uploaded to your record on IDCEC by 12/31 of the reporting year. All Self Reporting forms must be received no later than December 12 of the reporting year, keeping in mind it may take up to 45 days to be reviewed due the number of submissions we will receive at years end. The earlier CEUs are completed the less likely an audit will occur.
Warehousing with IDCEC
ASID members who elect to warehouse their CEUs with IDCEC will be able to take advantage of many benefits most free of charge. By recording your CEUs in your IDCEC record you may print an “unofficial” transcript free of charge at any time or request an “official” transcript for a nominal fee; ASID will be able to send you updates from time to time on your CEU status and you may go into your record at any time and view all reported CEUs you have taken for up to three years (the current reporting period plus the last year of the last reporting period). For courses that are IDCEC approved the instructor will report attendance on your behalf. Credit for a course taken and reported will show on your record within five (5) business days.
Audits
ASID members who elect NOT to warehouse their CEUs with IDCEC will be subject to an audit. At the end of a reporting period ASID will receive a report listing CEUs completed by individual members. Members who have not met the 1.0 requirement will be audited. Members will be required to submit proof of their CEUs by way of a certificate of attendance or completion or a stamped conference card. Members who cannot supply proof that all CEUs have been attained, will face failure of compliance.
Failure to Comply
Any member who fails to comply with the continuing education requirement may be subject to a termination of Society membership in accordance with the requirements of the ASID By-Laws.
